Talvolta, è indubbio che io possegga delle doti da veggente.
Appena è stato annunciato questo progetto, vista la notevole somiglianza col vero e vivente Sullenberger,
il primo nome che mi è venuto alla mente, osservandone i tratti fisiognomici, è stato Tom Hanks,
che rispecchia, pressapoco, anche la giusta età anagrafica del succitato real hero quando accaddero
i fatti miracolosi che il nostro egregio, insuperabile, adoratissimo Clint Eastwood si appresta
a trasporre cinematograficamente per quella che sarà una sua superba versione della storia
sto(r)icissima.
Ed ecco che, a pochi giorni dal dato/database annuncio, Deadline fa proprio il nome di Tom Hanks, il quale,
da quanto leggiamo, si sarebbe aggiudicato il davvero a(m)bito-ruolo del pilota mondiale e pazzesco
di vol(t)o.

EXCLUSIVE: Clint Eastwood has found Sully. Eastwood and Warner Bros are negotiating with Tom Hanks to play Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who became an instant American hero in 2009 when he engineered a miraculous emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River after a flock of geese hit the plane just after it took off from La Guardia Airport. His courage under fire saved the lives of all 155 people aboard the plane, who famously crowded the wings waiting rescue.
When Eastwood recently declared his intention to make that film at Warner Bros — where his last American-hero pic, American Sniper, grossed $543.4M worldwide — many wondered whether there was anybody but Eastwood who should play Sully, the nickname by which the veteran pilot became known. Well, the other guy would be Hanks, who, from Apollo 13 to Forrest Gump to Captain Phillips, has been Hollywood’s other go-to guy for hero turns. This gives Warner Bros a heckuva combination to tell this story.
Eastwood will direct the new biopic from a screenplay by Todd Komarnicki, which was based on the book Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters, by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow.
Hanks completed A Hologram For The King with Tom Tykwer and reprised his Robert Langdon role in the Ron Howard-directed Inferno based on the novel by The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown. He’s also been circling the James Ponsoldt-directed The Circle, an adaptation of the Dave Eggers novel which had all the buyers salivating at Cannes. Hanks is repped by CAA. Sullenberger is with Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

With his American Sniper having brought in more than $543 million at the worldwide box office, four-time Academy Award winner Clint Eastwood (who just turned 85 this past Sunday) has signed on to direct another biopic for Warner Bros. Pictures. This time, Eastwood will tackle the story of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberg, the American hero who, in 2009, successfully landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in what has famously become known as the Miracle on the Hudson.
The film, which is at the moment without a title, will be based on Sullenberger’s 2009 autobiography, Highest Duty. Written with Jeffrey Zaslow, the book is described on Sullenberger’s official site as follows:
On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed a remarkable emergency landing when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger skillfully glided US Airways Flight 1549 onto the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. His cool actions not only averted tragedy but made him a hero and an inspiration worldwide.
Highest Duty is Sully’s story—a story of dedication, hope, and preparedness, revealing the important lessons he learned through childhood, in his military service, and in his work as a commercial airline pilot. It reminds us all that, even in these days of war, tragedy, and economic uncertainty, there are values still worth fighting for—that life’s challenges can be met if we’re ready for them.

Complessivamente a bordo si trovavano 150 passeggeri e 5 membri dell’equipaggio inclusi il pilota e il copilota, per un totale di 155 persone. Il capitano era il pilota Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, all’epoca dell’età di 57 anni, già pilota della United States Air Force fino al 1980 e appassionato pilota di alianti.Il copilota era invece Jeffrey B. Skiles, all’epoca dell’età di 49 anni. Skiles rispetto al suo collega Sullenberger era invece alle sue prime esperienze a bordo degli A320, dal momento che aveva ricevuto solo di recente l’abilitazione a pilotare questi apparecchi. Infine, le assistenti di volo erano Donna Dent, Doreen Welsh e Sheila Dail.
